OWASSO – Owasso Public Schools Athletic Director Zach Duffield has received one of the top honors in the state for educators in his position. The Oklahoma¬†Interscholastic Athletic Administrators Association named him as the state’s Athletic Director of the Year at their annual conference being held through Wednesday of this week.

Duffield has been praised in the last year for a number of victories in his recent hires. The hiring of Bill Blankenship followed by the Rams’ first state football championship since 1974 was the biggest news of the 2017-2018 school year. That was quickly followed by a Class 6A Girls Basketball state championship for Head Coach Matt Sweeney, who had come close in recent years but finally achieved a gold ball with a win over Putnam City West in the March finals.

A native of Grove, Duffield has been affiliated with the Owasso School District for nearly two decades as a teacher and a coach. He has served in his current position for five years.
