OWASSO – For the third year in a row, Bailey Medical Center was awarded an ‘A’ from The Leapfrog Group’s fall 2018 Hospital Safety Guide, which recognizes its efforts to protect patients and its ability to meet the highest safety standards in the U.S.

The Leapfrog Group, a national organization committed to improving health care and quality, scores hospitals by grading their performance in five categories: infections, problems with surgery, practices to prevent errors, safety problems and doctors, nurses and staff.

According to their performance in the categories listed above, the Safety Grade assigns an A, B, C, D or F grade to hospitals across the country.

Bailey Medical Center is one of only 10 hospitals in Oklahoma to receive an ‘A’ grade of the 39 hospitals reporting.

“Our team at Bailey Medical Center is exceptional, and we are committed to providing high-quality health care and a safe environment for our patients,” CEO of Bailey Medical Center Keith Mason said. “We are honored by this designation, and I’m proud of our team for their dedication to our patients.”

Developed under the guidance of a national expert panel, the Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade uses 28 measures of publicly available hospital safety data to assign grades to more than 2,600 U.S. hospitals twice per year. The Hospital Safety Grade’s methodology is peer reviewed and fully transparent. Results are free to the public.

“Leapfrog’s Hospital Safety Grades recognize hospitals like Bailey Medical Center that focus on advancing patient safety,” President and CEO of The Leapfrog Group Leah Binder said. “This ranking provides an important resource for patients, and a benchmark for hospitals, to determine how care at one hospital compares to others in a region. Hospitals that earn an A Hospital Safety Grade deserve to be recognized for their efforts in preventing medical harm and errors.”

This is not the first award that Bailey Medical Center has retained over the years. Bailey Medical Center has also been named one of the ‘Best Places to Work in Healthcare’ by Modern Healthcare since 2011, maintaining the title for seven consecutive years.
