OWASSO – Ending their regular season 10-0, the Rejoice Eagles are set to play Pawhuska High School’s football team in the first round of the OSSAA Football playoffs Friday, Nov. 9.The Eagles have had an astounding season with a ten straight win record, including two shutout losses against Fairland (54-0) and Ketchum (68-0).

The Eagles will be returning to the playoffs after having their season cut short last year. Crescent High School’s football team delivered a devastating loss to the Eagles (63-21) that ended their playoff campaign in the second round.

If the Eagles make it to the second round of playoffs, they are set to play either Gore, who has a season record of 8-2, or Wynnewood (7-3).

The Pawhuska Huskies have had a more turbulent year with an overall season record of 6-4. At the beginning of their season, the Huskies racked up a 36-20 loss at Kellyville. After that first loss, the Huskies had a hard time obtaining wins, bouncing back and forth each week between wins and losses. Later in the season, the Huskies earned a three-win streak starting with a shutout win of 62-0, defeating Drumwright High School’s football team. Though the Huskies tacked on two wins from Hominy (44-38) and Langston Hughes (58-0), they ended the season with a loss. The Huskies blanked 44-18, fighting Pawnee High School’s football team for the district title.

Last year, the Huskies had a similar pattern with an overall 2017 record of 6-5, ending their 2017 season with a loss against Hominy in the first round of playoffs 36-33.

The Rejoice Eagles are scheduled to play the Huskies at home Friday with kickoff at 7:30 p.m.
