OWASSO – The Owasso Chamber of Commerce is inviting members and friends to take part in Friday’s ribbon cutting for the Western Sun Federal Credit Union. The event will take place at 11:30 AM at the new location on Highway 20 just east of U.S. Highway 169.
According to their website, Western Sun Federal Credit Union began in 1940 when employees and family members of the Barnsdall Oil Company in Tulsa, OK, pooled their resources to form a cooperative financial institution. They named it Tulsa Be Square Federal Credit Union. The name was changed in 1963 to Tulsa DX Federal Credit Union and again in 1970 to Western Sun Federal Credit Union.
Currently the institution boasts locations in Broken Arrow, Tulsa, Bixby, and Okmulgee. The Owasso location is their first foray into North Tulsa County.
“Western Sun Federal Credit Union is dedicated to serving the community in a friendly, professional manner. We are committed to offering competitive electronic financial services and excel in meeting the personalized needs of members.” the Credit Union said via their website.
