BARTLESVILLE – While the Owasso Lady Rams made major adjustments in their first game of the 2018-2019 season, the Bartlesville Lady Bruins celebrated the first victory under Coach Donnie Martin on Tuesday night. The reigning Class 6A state champions fell short in a 46-32 decision.
While seasoned veterans like senior Rylie Boone were able to do their thing, the Lady Rams welcomed a few players who haven’t necessarily been known for their basketball skills. Lady Ram volleyball standout Mallory Hendrix and softball standout Paige Knight both joined Coach Matt Sweeney’s program shortly after their other seasons came to an end. Both made their debut with the Lady Ram basketball team on Tuesday night.
Bartlesville came out to a strong start leading 16-6 at the end of the first quarter, while the Lady Rams were forced to play catch-up in the second quarter. They made it an eight point ballgame at the half.
Bartlesville would go on to outscore the Lady Rams 12-9 in the third quarter, however Owasso improved it’s shooting performance in the fourth and final quarter. The Bruins pushed forward to a 46-32 decision.
The Lady Rams get set for a road trip to Booker T. Washington next Tuesday.
